Toddler Meal Ideas: What my 14-Month Old Eats

A variety of foods that would work well for a toddler meal

I am constantly wondering if the meals that I am feeding my daughter are good enough. Is she getting enough protein? Eating enough? Drinking enough milk? Drinking too much milk? I found myself having a lot of trouble figuring out what meals to feed my toddler when she first started really eating.

One thing that helped me a lot during this time was seeing what other moms were feeding their kids. So, here is what I feed my 14-month old daughter on a typical day:

Toddler Meal Idea: Breakfast

This is an example of what my daughter eats pretty much every day for breakfast. I will usually scramble one egg with just a little bit of pepper in it. I like to serve it with some sort of fruit – kiwis and strawberries are our go-to’s right now. Most days I let her snack on some Cheerios while I get her breakfast ready, and then I give her some on the side as well. She loves these straw cups and usually just sips on her milk throughout the morning.

Morning Snack

Before her nap, I give her a snack to make sure she can sleep for a while without getting hungry. Her favorite snack right now is a “nana”!

Toddler Meal Idea: Lunch

For lunch, I gave my daughter a few strawberries cut up. I like the Solid Starts app for seeing the best age-appropriate way to cut and serve foods to my toddler. I served them alongside some organic peanut butter on whole-grain seeded bread. Once again served with her straw cup filled with milk, which she usually finishes around lunch time.

Toddler Meal Idea: Dinner

For dinner, I made her a variation of the chicken parmesan that I made for my boyfriend and myself. I cut up some chicken for her, gave her some of the noodles – with very minimal sauce – and some of the mixed veggies on the side. I refill her straw cup with milk for dinner as well.

Evening Snack

Usually, about an hour before we start getting her ready for bed, she tends to get hungry again. Lately, she has been loving these little biscuit cookies, so she will usually eat a few of these and finish off her second cup of milk before bed.

Throughout the day I also offer her water in the same style of cup – although she prefers to drink out of my Stanley.

I hope this helps you on your journey in figuring out how to feed your tiny human!
