Postpartum Fitness: The Best Fitness Channels for New Mothers

Before having my daughter, I was extremely active, went to the gym every day, and was really into that sort of gym culture. During my pregnancy – especially towards the third trimester – I barely had enough energy to work and get everything ready for the baby let alone go to the gym. After I gave birth (and took the appropriate time to heal), I was eager to get back in the gym and figure out what my postpartum fitness journey would look like.

Unfortunately, having a newborn is not always conducive to making it to the gym. So, I turned to Youtube, and these were the best channels that I found that helped me get back on my fitness journey:

1. Pregnancy and Postpartum TV

This is definitely the channel that I would recommend when you are first starting to get back into working out. There are tons of low-impact options, and she focuses a lot on pelvic floor strength which was really helpful for me. It’s also a really great option if you want to work out while you are still pregnant! There are some more high-intensity videos, but after a few weeks of working out consistently, I did feel like I outgrew the difficulty level of most of her videos.

2. NourishMoveLove

This is another great channel for new moms looking to get started on their postpartum fitness journey. They have a full 4-week postpartum program, a Diastasis Recti program, and pregnancy programs for each trimester as well. They also have tons of other workouts and playlists for when you feel like you move past the “postpartum” type of workouts. I didn’t feel like I outgrew this channel in the same way that I did the previous one.

3. GrowWithJo

GrowWithJo is a classic. I love her workout videos as they are always so full of energy and fun to follow along with. She includes tons of low-impact options in her videos so they still work for newer moms. She also has videos ranging from 10 minutes to 45 minutes. So, if you are working with a time constraint (aka you have an infant!) these are perfect. Her workouts are geared more towards beginners, as well.

I would say that these channels worked for me for about 6-months. Once I really started getting back into it I found myself needing something more high-impact and challenging.
